Letting the words flow

I’ve been working on my ability to speak extemporaneously. 

Of course, anyone who knows me would say that I have absolutely no problem speaking extemporaneously. But what I mean is, I'm working on my ability to speak clearly and succinctly. My ability to make a clear point without planning out every word that I'm going to say ahead of time. I'm sure the people who know me well would agree that this is, in fact, something that is a challenge for me (and often, for them).

Well, that didn’t take long.

This week, on a post of mine, I received a comment that was unmistakably generated by ChatGPT.

It had all of the hallmarks of ChatGPT’s writing style, or lack thereof: Identical structure between paragraphs, restating the words of the prompt verbatim in each topic sentence, and over-reliance on phrases like, “It’s important to remember that...” and “find what works best for you.”

Just enough to keep going

I wouldn’t have started this blog if I didn’t find it intrinsically valuable to spend the time writing.

That said, I’m not sure if I would have continued the blog if nobody read it.

But I want to be clear: I’m defining “nobody” as nobody. Not a single person.

Not like the teenager saying “nobody likes me” when they really mean that nobody popular pays attention to them.
